Big Green's Got Game

Billed as a "Sports Special," the spring issue of Dartmouth Life includes a story with Athletic Director Harry Sheehy, another on coaches and phys ed, a piece where current and former trustees share what they learned as athletes, still another story on the facility improvements in the past decade, a look at faculty advisors to athletes, sports shorts and a full-page look at a day in the life of a track athlete. Find most of those stories here.

The kicker quote to the story with Harry Sheehy has the AD saying:
"Let's stand toe-to-toe with Harvard, Yale and Princeton and throw a punch and see where we land. If we knocked down, we'll get up again."

A mailing yesterday included a note that the "move-in" date for the football team is Aug. 23. That's 67 days away.

Players who live more than 500 miles away have the option of an extra night's accommodation.

Have you ever wondered what your Academic Index number might be? You can get a good idea by using the formula on this page.

That AI page, by the way, is from the QB Society website, which bills itself as Football's Executive Resume System. QB Society is the brainchild of Chad Brown, Dartmouth tight ends coach 2000-01. If you poke around the site a bit and type Dartmouth into the search box (leave the window on executives) you can pull up profiles of some of the Dartmouth coaches.

And finally, best wishes to Dartmouth Assistant SID Dara Ely, who finishes up almost five years in Hanover today. She will be missed not just in the gym and in the Ivy League but by those of us who call her a friend.
