Huh?

Not quite sure how this happens but Shawn Abuhoff was named first-team All-America punt returner by The Sports Network last year and despite neither of them having played a game yet he has flip-flopped with the second-team All-America selection from 201o in this year's preseason All-America team. That gets a mention in this story.

Three full preseason All-America teams were chosen by The Sports Network and no other Ivy Leaguer is Columbia's Jeff Adams was the only other Ivy Leaguer listed. Find the full team here.

Colgate running back Nate Eachus is a member of the first team in addition to being on the Payton Watchlist.

Former Dartmouth coach John Lyons looks as if he'll have something to work with as the new defensive coordinator at New Hampshire where he has a first-team preseason All-America linebacker and second-team defensive end.

At least a couple of the concrete posts that will hold the light stanchions at Memorial Field are now in place and the light banks appear just about ready to go up. I can't help but remember when coach Buddy Teevens had several of those generator-driven light units you see on highway construction sites trucked into Memorial Field and tried to practice under them. Call it a good college try, but it didn't work. Not even close, actually. There won't be any problem this year ;-)

Also, keep an eye out (and an ear out ;-) for the Big Green Alert podcast which will debut with a look at all of the Dartmouth opponents. We did a dry run of it yesterday and I think you'll like it. With college costs taking a severe bite out of the family budget we're not doing much in the way of vacations for a few years so it's off to York Beach, Maine this morning for a day trip with the family in hopes that cool(er)ocean breezes will moderate a hot day. Then it will be a seafood dinner and back home tonight to the relief of Cooper The Wonder Dog, who will have two things on his mind after a long day, the first being food.
