Dartmouth coach Buddy Teevens . . .
Progressed last season. Excited 1st winning record in a while. Not satisfied. Good number of guys who have seen varsity time.
Key is execution across board. Strong offseason. Keith Clark new OC, new QB coach Chris Rorke. Defensive staff pretty well intact. Guys know what they are doing.
Some key players, RB Nick Schwieger. Some exp. on OL, WR, QB and on defensive side.
Kicking game in good shape. Freshman Lyons will add depth.
No big changes with Clark as OC. Nice thing about promoting within. Had established capability of running fb. Seasoning of OL helps.
What will it take to jump into group at top? Need to finish in big games. Had opportunities last year. Convert short yardage, avoid penalties. Fortunate bounces and good health key.
On Abuhoff: Cover guy and PR/KOR value. Can change field position and emotional lift. Teams have opted not to kick to us which helps also.
Historically QB has had impact on success in Ivy. Everybody has guys that can play. Some guys have 1-2-3 who can play. Nobody is ever out of a ballgame. Credit to coaches who are developing them.
When you have a guy who has ability to make plays there's a comfort level selecting plays. May see a few more big plays. Don't see it as pass happy. Pctg. completion may rise. Nice to see that many quality athletes in the league.
Is it frustrating Ivies can't go on to postseason? Both for coaches and players. Success of Penn and Harvard, would have been nice to see them on national stage. A shame. Conversations going on. Others Ivy teams have chance. Don't make a big deal of it.
Which is tougher, taking woeful team to .500 or taking .5oo to championship level. We'll find out. People who have been established for a long time, there's a reason for that. Greatest thing we have is element of confidence we didn't have in the past.
