Stage Is Set

Dartmouth coach Buddy Teevens does a short interview on the college site looking ahead to Saturday's opener against Colgate.

Dartmouth's game notes are available here.
*
The local daily has its Dartmouth season preview posted online today.
*
Texas wide receiver Jordan Thompson of Katy has "received an offer" from Dartmouth according to this website. Thompson must be pretty quick if he's the 5-foot-9, 155 pounds reported by MaxPreps.
*
The Boston Globe has a story about Harvard quarterback Collier Winters winning the skills competition at the Manning Passing Academy. Teevens, who started the MPA, noted after practice yesterday that he actually ran the competition that Winters won.
*
Route 4, the main east-west road in these parts and the usual route for the first 90 minutes or so of the trip to Colgate and Cornell should reopen today. It won't be as fast as it was (and it was most definitely not fast) but it will be passable. It had been closed west of Woodstock through Killington since tropical storm Irene. Doubtful that the Colgate busses would come that way but instead will probably head south and come across on the Mass Pike.

If you are in town and hungry for some football tonight the Hanover Marauders face the Lebanon Raiders in the Battle of Route 120 at Hanover's field. The high school is located behind the south end zone at Memorial Field and the sunken field is behind the school. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. Lebanon sent freshman running back Cody Patch to Dartmouth and there's a lanky receiver on the Hanover team this year who might be interested in following in his steps.

It was 42 degrees when I took Cooper the Wonder Dog out this morning to fetch the paper. It is expected to be in the low 60's at gametime tomorrow. It's football season at long last.
