There may be drama next Monday but there was none today in the announcement of the finalists for the Ivy League's offensive and defensive players of the year.
Chosen were Dartmouth tailback Nick Schwieger and Cornell quarterback Jeff Mathews on offense along with Harvard defensive lineman Josue Ortiz and Penn linebacker Erik Rask on defense. All are seniors except for Mathews, just a sophomore, and none are surprises.
Schwieger shared the Bushnell last year with Harvard tailback Gino Gordon. This is the first year offensive and defensive POYs are being named.
The winners will be announced Monday.
