Not to go all Andy Rooney on you, but I miss January 1 bowl games. And while I'm at it, Cotton, Rose, Sugar and Orange only, thank you very much.
Do you realize it is Jan. 1 and there are still 12 bowl games left? They include the Dallas TicketCity Bowl on Jan. 2, the BBVA Compass Bowl on Jan. 7 and the perfect matchup to get you ready for the national championhip, the Go Daddy Bowl pitting Arkansas State against Northern Illinois on Jan. 8. It's madness.

A happy and healthy New Year's to all. And by the way, it would be OK with me if we referred to this year as "twenty-twelve," rather than the overly wordy "two-thousand and twelve." (I blame the 1968 file 2001: A Space Odyssey for that ;-)
