Read On

There are 33 days until the first preseason football practice and 57 days between now and the season-opening game against Butler. If you need to feed your football Jones in the interim, head on over to the Dartmouth website where bios for the 2012 roster have been updated. Lots of good information there.
The Dartmouth junior varsity football schedule for the fall has been posted and it looks like this:
Sept. 16 vs. Middlebury
Sept. 30 vs. Williams
Nov. 11 vs. Bridgton
Not sure why the annual game against Harvard isn't listed yet, but it has traditionally been played on the Friday before the varsity game, so tentatively pencil it in for Oct. 26 on Memorial Field. That will be confirmed here once it is, well, confirmed.

All junior varsity games are at home.
The Dartmouth has a story about fundraising for athletics pointing out that alumni contributions have more than doubled in the past three years. Remarkable.
And finally, beta testing (not really, but it sounds so cool) of the new Green Alert Premium website has been successful so far. Barring an unexpected bug, signups will begin later today. One point that I should make clear: Everyone will need to fill out a new, streamlined form asking you to choose a username and password. Yes, you can use the same specs as on the old site, but because the database is being entirely rebuilt you'll have to fill out a new subscriber form.

The best part for both of us: Beyond more intuitive navigation, the new site has a "lost password" functionality that will allow you to recover your password or username if you forget them, which happens a lot ;-)

Check back later today for links to sign up (barring a late-arriving bug, of course).
