Game Day

Game day and at 9 a.m., it is drooling outside. The Accuweather forecast calls for a 19 percent chance of rain at kickoff, rising to 34 percent in the second half.
There's a Comcast capsule preview of the Dartmouth-Penn game here. The Ivy League page has a preview here and WHRB, the Harvard radio station, has a blog preview here. Nothing new in any of them if you've been paying attention ;-)
The first Ivy game of the weekend was played last night in a downpour at Harvard and the weather turned out to be the least of Holy Cross's problems as the Crimson slapped 49 points on the Crusaders ... in the first half! From the Boston Herald story about Harvard's 52-3 win:
Senior quarterback Colton Chapple played only one half but completed 13-of-18 passes for 260 yards and four touchdowns. Chapple, who also scored on a 3-yard run in the second quarter, directed the Crimson to 9-for-9 in third-down conversions.
Holy Cross quarterback Ryan Laughlin was 9-for-24 for 105 yards, with 65 of those yards coming on one play. Find the box score here.  From the Boston Globe:
“It was a combination of us being completely in synch in the first half and playing against, quite frankly, a very banged-up Holy Cross squad,” said (Harvard coach Tim) Murphy.
The Worcester Telegram story is here.
Dartmouth senior tri-captain Patrick Lahey is one of 147 semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy as "the absolute best football scholar-athlete in the nation." There's a Dartmouth release here (including a short highlight video) and a Boston Herald blog here.
