Hey, Wait A Minute

This is perfect example of why relying on Internet reports for recruiting information is a dicey proposition. Earlier today I had a posting on a player who Rivals reported as committing to Dartmouth. That has since been changed by Rivals to Columbia. Which is it? Dunno.

The guess here is that the correction is correct so I've pulled the post until there is some confirmation one way or the other.

All that said . . .

Here's what we think we know about the potential recruiting class with the best guess at positions and heights/weights per Internet reports that vary widely. (Corrections not just welcomed, but encouraged ;-)

Got an email recently suggesting the only player listed as a tight end recruit likely wasn't a tight end. This OC Varsity report says he was, in fact, recruited as a tight end.

With the graduation of top tight ends Justin Foley (14 catches, 3 TDs) and Mitch Aprahamian (12 catches, 1 TD), don't be surprised if there's someone on the list above who is actually targeted for tight end. The roster of returning tight ends for next fall includes Dean Bakes (4 catches, 1 TD), Jon Moran (3 catches, 1 TD with jayvee), Garrett Schmidt (1 catches, 1 TD for jayvees), Sam Laptad and Jack Sheehy, one of last year's top recruits (Rivals two-star), who missed the entire season with injury.
The News-Herald in Arizona has a story about Lake Havasu High School offensive lineman Zach Davis choosing (and signing) with Dartmouth.Said Davis in the News-Herald story:
“The education is key. Ivy League education cannot put a price on. Also, it is an up and coming athletic program…very competitive football program. When I went up there on my visit, I really enjoyed the camaraderie; the coaching staff is phenomenal. The players, it is like family.”
Find his highlight video on the Jan. 16 BGA report about his commitment.
The Dartmouth men's basketball team has its first Friday-Saturday Ivy League weekend with Brown in town tonight and Yale tomorrow. And please avoid the silliness of calling this the 14-Game Tournament. That just reinforces the unfortunate truth that the Ivy League does not have a tournament and that by the end of next week half of the teams will likely be playing for nothing more than pride.
