Of Heights And Weights

10:45 a.m. update: Dartmouth football staff completed with announcement that Kiely Nagle will coach the running backs and Derek Antonioni will be video director. Release here.
Heights and weights have been updated on the Dartmouth football roster and, word is, these are pretty much real numbers, not so-called "program" numbers. The most frequent change seems to be younger players losing an inch or sometimes two ;-)

The new numbers are first and the old numbers are in (parentheses). Apologies for typos – that was a lot of typing with no proofreader.

(At least one of the weights is being double-checked today because it doesn't look right.)

From the Princeton Football blog:
I feel like we should lead the Ivy League in rushing by a landslide,” said All-Ivy left tackle Spenser Huston.
Pretty strong words when Princeton was a middle-of-the pack rushing team last year and when Yale's Tyler Varga, Columbia's Marcorus Garrett, Dartmouth's Dominick Pierre, Cornell's Luke Hagy and Penn's Billy Ragone all return after rushing for more yards than Princeton leading rusher Will Powers last year.

Then again, this is the time of year when, as they say in Lake Wobegon, "all the women are strong, all the men are good looking, and all the Ivy League teams are going undefeated." Or something like that.
Week One opponent Butler will play Division III Franklin this week. Game notes. Perhaps even more surprising than that the Bulldogs are playing their second DIII team in a row is that they are playing at Franklin. The Grizzlies are ranked No. 13 in the DIII ranks but c'mon, what's that about?

Butler defeated Franklin the last time the teams met in Franklin, Ind., 49-19, in 2009.
Week Two opponent Holy Cross plays future Dartmouth opponent Central Connecticut State tomorrow. A couple of things from the HC notes:

• Holy Cross is 4-5 all-time against teams from the current NEC including a 17-16 loss at Bryant in Week One on a field goal at the end.

• CCSU lost at James Madison, 38-14, in week one and at Lehigh in two overtimes last week, 51-44.
Nice story in the Times Union about the debut of Bob Ford Field over at UAlbany this week. From the story:
The facility, which also is home to the UAlbany soccer teams, came with a price tag of $19 million. It's a scaled-down version of the $50 million, 24,000-seat stadium that UAlbany athletic director Lee McElroy envisioned before the economic recession slammed the country in 2008.
Dartmouth, too, saw its plans blown up by the economic meltdown. The Memorial Field home stands were slated for complete demolition and replacement prior to the downturn. In fact, they were days away from being taken down when the plan was put on indefinite hold.
