There's A Party Goin' On Right Here . . .

Editor's Note: As with all night games, there will be just one BGA Premium story tonight (but two tomorrow). Also, I will be writing on the drive home tonight while Mrs. BGA handles the wheel ;-) If we are out of Boston by 9 I should be back home and able to post tonight's story by midnight Eastern. If we are a little later . . . the story will be a little later.

Boston is going to be nuts today as the city honors the Red Sox with a parade. That might have been more of a problem for the Dartmouth football team (and its bus drivers) had this not been a 5 p.m. kickoff. There could still be a few clogged roads when the team makes the trek over from its hotel near Logan Airport.

The weather today is in stark contrast to the last time the Big Green played at Harvard. The temperature is supposed to be 60 degrees when the game begins, with partly cloudy skies. Two years ago the Harvard-Dartmouth game was played in a blizzard that shut down parts of New England for days. (Find a Harvard Magazine game story and photo here.)

The Harvard Crimson has a look at action around the Ivy League today and, after an introduction that may have you scratching your head, it takes some of the luster off Dartmouth's big-number win over Columbia last week:
Dartmouth’s 56-0 victory over Columbia demonstrates just one thing: the Big Green has enough people on their roster to put together a football team. It seems that’s the only prerequisite these days to beat (re: completely demolish) the Lions.
The writer's pick: Harvard, 38-34.

If it's true the offshore wise guys have Harvard almost a two-touchdown favorite they've got me wondering what they are thinking.

Dartmouth grad Brad Ausmus, who signed with the Yankees before ever playing for the Big Green and then went on to enjoy long career as a big league catcher, has interviewed to become manager of the Chicago Cubs. The Chicago Tribune has a story. (Thanks for the link.)
