UNH, Lyons Advance

Rightfully so, the Manchester Union Leader and the local Valley News have written stories in the past week about the standout work former Dartmouth head coach John Lyons is doing as defensive coordinator for the University of New Hampshire football team. The Wildcats advanced to the NCAA final four yesterday with a 20-17 win at No. 4 seed Southeastern Louisiana and its transfer quarterback from Oregon.

UNH, which a week ago won at No. 5 seed Maine, now faces the most daunting task of all. The Wildcats will visit No. 1 seed and two-time defending national champion North Dakota State Friday night in a game to be televised on ESPN2. North Dakota State (13-0) crushed Coastal Carolina (12-3) and former Dartmouth assistant Joe Moglia yesterday, 48-14.

Dartmouth visits UNH in Week Two next year.

Oh yeah, and while the FCS playoffs were going on, the Ivy League was . . . wait for it . . . just watching.
