Well, Hello

I wish I could take credit for this, but it was someone else with eagle eyes who spotted a Tweet in which the commitment of safety-running back-punter Ross Wood of Greater Atlanta Christian was announced.

The 6-foot-1, 180-pound Wood was an all-state choice at free safety as a junior after leading Gwinnett County in interceptions and finishing second on the squad with 98 combined tackles. He was second-team Class AA all-state this year as a punter.

The Gwinnett Daily Post wrote a feature early last season about GAC's talented senior jack-of-all trades who, and this is just a guess, looks as if he will end up in the Big Green secondary.

Find Wood's Hudl page with his senior highlight video here.

For what it's worth, with That Certain '14 graduating this spring, it will be good to have another Wood on campus. No relation but I probably won't misspell his name. And he'll like the Memorial Field nickname: The Woods ;-)
Here we go again with a thoroughly unofficial list of high school seniors reportedly choosing to play football at Dartmouth. There are two other names – one a big guy from the north and one a "skill" player from the south, that I'm trying to confirm. Until I find something definitive on them or readers pass along another name (hint ;-) that I can chase down, this is the best I can do.

BGA Premium will have a complete rundown of the recruiting class with projected positions, accurate heights, weights and hometowns as well as comments on each from Coach Teevens when the class is officially announced in the spring.

Editor's Note: Positions are best guesses. Hometowns are from Internet reports or email. Where no confirmed hometown was found the location of the high school is reported.
The Sports Network writes about the dubious success rate of preseason polls. From the column:
Ivy League favorite Penn had a losing season, while Princeton, picked fifth by the league coaches, tied for the title with Harvard.
The Patriot League had a similar script. Preseason favorite Colgate finished a mere 4-8 and Lafayette, fourth in the preseason, was first when it counted.
