More From NextTitle18

A Dartmouth football alum and friend of BGA is sending a $100 gift certificate to one of Hanover's fine eating and drinking establishments to the winner of the NextTitle18 contest after each home game this fall. This week's best guess will be rewarded with a gift certificate to Molly's, the venerable Main Street institution.

The question:
How many yards of total offense will Dartmouth have in this week's game against Holy Cross?
For the uninitiated, here's the NCAA definition of total offense: "Total offense is the total of net gain rushing and net gain forward passing. Receiving and runback yards are not included in total offense." ;-)

Here are some numbers that may be helpful:

Dartmouth average total offense this year: 353.0 yards
Dartmouth total offense vs. Central Connecticut State: 391
Dartmouth total offense vs. UNH: 262
Dartmouth total offense vs. Penn: 325
Dartmouth total offense vs. Yale 434

Holy Cross average total offense allowed this year: 395.6

Dartmouth average total offense in 2013: 424.9
Dartmouth total offense vs. Holy Cross in 2013: 496

To enter the contest, send an email to guesstheattendance@gmail.com with your prediction of how many yards of total offense Dartmouth will accumulate Saturday. One entry per email address.
Several emailers sent along the link to a video on FootballScoop under the headline (LINK):
Here’s a first, Kicker scores a touchdown…on a kickoff!
The intro to the video includes this: "Pretty unlikely that any of us will see this happen again anytime soon."

Maybe not, but it wasn't the "first" the headline suggests. Dartmouth's Dave Regula did the same thing in 1997. Regula booted a 23-yard field goal and then collected a fumble on his ensuing  kickoff and carried it 32 yards for a touchdown. With the extra point he had scored 10 points in NCAA record time. It's buried a little bit in the story but Philly.com describes what happened HERE.

Editor's Note: I have no idea who posted a note about Regula to the FootballScoop site following the video, but they signed my name to it. Can I ask a favor? Please don't do things like that. It creeps me out.
Dartmouth has made an appearance in the FCS Coaches Poll, garnering one vote. Here are teams of some interest in the poll (LINK):

3. Coastal Carolina (former Dartmouth assistant Joe Moglia)
5. New Hampshire
13. Fordham (Patriot League)
24. Harvard
26. Sacred Heart (2015 opponent)
36. Bucknell (Patriot League)
T-39. Dartmouth
Onetime jayvee quarterback-turned-major league infielder Ed Lucas '04 is on the move. From ESPN (LINK):
ARLINGTON, Texas -- The Texas Rangers have acquired infielder Ed Lucas from the Miami Marlins on a waiver claim.
The Rangers got the 32-year-old Lucas on Friday.
Lucas hit .251 with one home run and nine RBIs in 69 games for Miami last season. He played all four infield spots, and also saw time in left field and right field.
Thanks to a loyal BGA reader from afar for the link!
