Opponent Roundup

How Dartmouth's nonleague opponents fared this week:

Georgetown 34, Marist 7
Week One Dartmouth foe Georgetown jumped out to a 31-7 halftime lead and was never challenged in improving to 1-1. Quarterback Kyle Nolan was 21-of-34 for 200 yards. Marist, which has scored seven points total in its first two games, rushed for 65 yards, turned the ball over three times and committed 11 penalties.

The attendance was listed at 1,087.

Sacred Heart 56, Valparaiso 3
Let the debate begin about how good Sacred Heart is this year. There can be no debate about Valparaiso, which has been outscored in its two losses this season, 108-13.

Sacred Heart built a 35-0 halftime lead to post its second win against an overmatched opponent. The Pioneers, who benefited from five Valpo turnovers, opened with a 43-19 win over DII St. Anselm and next week they play toothless Marist, which was overpowered yesterday by Georgetown. Ose Imeokparia ran for 119 yards three touchdowns and quarterback RJ Noel was 22-of-34 for Sacred Heart, won't get its first real test until Sept. 26 when it visits Dartmouth.

Stony Brook 38, Central Connecticut 9
Stony Brook outgained the Blue Devils, 479 yards to 120 yards, piling up 28 first downs to Central Connecticut's six in a win that was more impressive than the final score would suggest. The Blue Devils managed just 27 yards on 22 rushes and 93 passing yards while converting just one third-down opportunity.
Did you hear about the 107-90 high school football game in Pennsylvania? In regulation?

A Meadville running back by the name of Journey Brown ran for 722 yards and 10 touchdowns on 30 carries and and DuBois quarterback Matt Miller threw for 782 yards and 10 touchdowns.
