Tickets? Better Hurry

It's a little hard to see but on the left side of the picture below, just above the white box reading "This item currently does not have available tickets for purchase," it says "Football vs Dartmouth."

Yup, Georgetown  is reporting the game one week from today is sold out. That would be a little more impressive if the wonderfully named Multi-Sport Field seated more than 2,500, but the fact remains, if you don't have a ticket and hoped to go to the game you better have a plan and here it is:

No promises, but as of late Friday afternoon there were still 20 or so tickets available through the Dartmouth ticket office. The ticket office opens at 10 Monday morning according to THIS PAGE. If you are hoping to go to the game you probably want to have the phone in hand at that time and all but the last number punched in.

Among those who are plan to attend the game are Jim Yong Kim, former Dartmouth president and now president of the World Bank, Delaware congressman John Carney '78 and West Virginia congressman Alex Mooney '93.
Speaking of Georgetown, it doesn't feel right to say the news is good regarding a player suffering a devastating injury but the news is certainly better for Hoyas junior Ty Williams, who fractured five vertebrae against Saint Francis.

Williams underwent nine hours of surgery and the Washington Post now reports he has some movement in both legs and "was experiencing pain from the waist down, which doctors viewed as a positive."

The NFL opener between the New England Patriots and Pittsburgh Steelers had Dartmouth connections galore.

The most obvious was Dartmouth freshman quarterback Harry Kraft, grandson of New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft and son of team president Jonathan Kraft.

Two-time Dartmouth captain and All-Ivy League linebacker Bronson Green '14 is site operations manager for the Patriots.

Nate Solder, New England's 6-foot-8 offensive tackle, was a Dartmouth basketball recruit who ultimately chose football for the Colorado Buffs over basketball at Dartmouth. Find a story about his decision HERE.

New England special teams all-pro Matthew Slater was accepted and all set to attend Dartmouth before a late audible saw him switch his commitment to UCLA. His recruitment, acceptance letter and change of heart is detailed in the book Playing the Game. (Click Look Inside! and search on the name Slater to learn the story of the one who got away.)

Slater's wife, Dr. Shahrzad Ehdaivandm is a pathologist who studied at Dartmouth's Geisel School of Medicine, graduating in 2004.

And of course Dan Rooney, Jr., played quarterback at Dartmouth and is how player personnel coordinator for the Steelers, the family business.

There are probably a few more connections, but that's a pretty good start ;-)
BGA Premium had Dartmouth coach Buddy Teevens' feelings about the Harvard preseason game last night and will have an update on this morning's practice in today's post. The site will also have the second of a three-part look at this year's freshmen featuring Teevens' comments on each of the first-year players.
