The List

With National Signing Day behind us, one last potential recruit I was watching has Tweeted that he's headed elsewhere, so barring a change of heart (stay tuned) this looks like the final recruiting class listed by position. As always, heights and weights are averaged out from various sources, positions are best guesses, and the towns listed are either the school or the hometown (and I don't know which is which).

Speaking of recruits, from a story out of South Carolina (LINK):

“I just wanted to put myself in the very best position academically and athletically,” Summerville outside linebacker Steve Simpkins Jr. said of his decision to sign with Dartmouth College. “They will develop me as a person, a player and a student. It seemed like everywhere else I went didn’t have that family bond they have.”

#

And speaking of families, this is kind of fun. You may recognize the name:

Yup, that's the son of Princeton coach Bob Surace. Per 247Sports he chose Rutgers over offers from Tennessee, Michigan State, Northwestern, Indiana, Pitt, Duke, Boston College and Temple. His sister, Alison, plays lacrosse at Columbia. (LINK)

#

The Analyst had a story under the headline, NFL Draft Stock Rising: FCS Players With Standout Performances at Major 2023 All-Star Games that includes mentions of Princeton receivers Andrei Iosivas and Dylan Classi. (LINK)

Iosivas must have drawn attention during the Senior Bowl week's practice because he didn't have a catch in the game, and unfortunately was targeted only twice. A lot of eyes will be on him at the NFL Combine where his 40 time figures to be a topic of discussion. Princeton teammate Classi caught five passes for 117 yards at the much less-heralded Tropical Bowl.

#

HERO Sports has a list of 2023 FCS vs. FBS Payouts (LINK).

Green Alert Take: I've got to imagine the better Dartmouth teams of the past decade would have loved the chance to test themselves against mid-level FBS competition . . . and the dollars going into the college coffers wouldn't have hurt. Looks like a win-win to me as long as you schedule the right opponent.

#

The Dartmouth writes that receiver Jamal Cooney ran a PR of 22.46 in the 200 at the Scarlet and White Invite at Boston University. (LINK)

#

Noticed that Bowling Green started "spring" practice last Monday and the Chattanooga Mocs will be on the field today. I meant to include a note on Saturday saying, "Dartmouth kicks off spring practice two months from today." That would be April 4.

EXTRA POINT
Passing through Pennsylvania when the kids were young we stayed one time at a campground that had an arts-and-crafts session. That Certain Dartmouth '14 used a wood burner to make this sign that is sitting on a bookshelf here in the BGA World Headquarters but would be just as appropriate on Memorial Field (although the apostrophe would have to be removed ;-).
