Editor's Note: Alert eyes poring over yesterday's post regarding the winners of the Jake Crouthamel Award "to the offensive underclassman who has contributed most to the success of the team" noticed linebacker Reggie Williams winning the Crouthamel in '74 and linebacker Jeff Hickey in '77. Turns out that prior to the introduction of the Young Award in '78 the Crouthamel was described this way:

"Presented to that member of the varsity football team who is a member of the junior or sophomore class and who, by vote of the football coaching staff, has made significant contribution to the success of the team."

No mention of offense or defense.

With the addition of the Young "defensive" underclassman award, the Crouthamel morphed into the "offensive" award. Freshman eligibility being introduced in 1993 led to the change to "underclassman."

The Bluebloods site continues its look at what the Pro Football Focus algorithm sees as the top-graded  returning performers at various positions. Dartmouth will face three of the site's top 15 ranked tight ends (LINK):

5. Matt Robbert (Cornell)
PFF Offensive Grade: 75.0
2022 Statistics: 31 receptions, 468 receiving yards, 15.1 yards per reception, 3 receiving touchdowns

9. Kyle Lepkowski (New Hampshire)
PFF Offensive Grade: 69.1
2022 Statistics: 42 receptions, 542 receiving yards, 12.9 yards per reception, 2 receiving touchdowns

13. Tyler Neville (Harvard)
PFF Offensive Grade: 62.2
2022 Statistics: 26 receptions, 302 receiving yards, 11.6 yards per reception, 4 receiving touchdowns

Green Alert Take: No surprise to see a Harvard tight end on the list and New Hampshire has had its share of good ones as well. While Dartmouth did not have a tight end listed, TE should be a huge position of strength for the Big Green this fall.

EXTRA POINT
When you live in a town like college Hanover, as we did for many years, entertainment comes to you.

When you live in a small Vermont village, you create your own entertainment.

So it was last night when when our teeny town hall hosted its annual variety show for the first time since COVID. From the local man of the cloth starting the evening off with several stories with surprise endings, to the school kids playing piano and fiddle, to the well-known actor who lives in town joining in with two others in a musical act before sharing a hilarious first-person story, to the audience joining in for the singing of the Vermont state song, These Green Mountains, to the home-baked goodies and delightful rhubarb punch, it was a thoroughly charming couple of hours.
