We're Not Alone On The Road

So you think life gets easy for college football coaches once spring practice is over and the start of preseason in August? Think again.

If you want to compete, you have to hit the road and that's exactly what the Dartmouth staff is doing. These graphics from the football office offer a look at the camps the coaches will be visiting as they work hard to find the next batch of talented Big Green players. Lots of frequent flyer miles for sure.

EXTRA POINT
With the skies clearing after some nail-biting driving through torrential rain we opted last night to pitch our tent at a private campground, eagerly looking forward to lounging at the pool. It would be a relaxing and refreshing way to cap a 90-degree day.

Lucky us. We found out after checking in and setting up our tent that the pool was closed for cleaning until tomorrow. When I gently suggested it would have been nice to know that before we checked in, the clerk simply shrugged her shoulders. Oh well, we could still be in the northeast where air quality is the worst it's been since the 1960s thanks to the wildfires in Canada. We drove through that stuff a couple of days ago up around Rochester, N.Y., and are glad to be missing it.
