The New York Giants have assigned uniform numbers, and Niko Lalos, the 6-foot-5, 270-pound "edge" rusher from Dartmouth, has been given No. 79. The 90 the undrafted free agent wore at Dartmouth belongs to RJ McIntosh, a defensive lineman taken out of Miami in the fifth round in 2018.
The SI GiantsCountry site has a posting (LINK) under the headline Breaking Down the Top Giants UDFAs and Their Chances of Making the Roster that warns, "This year is not the year to be an undrafted free agent playing linebacker or defensive back and to be on the Giants."
Lalos is listed in a section with defensive ends from Illinois and Temple as well as a linebacker from North Carolina. On a positive note, the section wrapsup this way:
If one of these candidates can flash pass rush ability early, maybe they can push for one of the final spots, but it is more likely that one ends up on the practice squad, and of those, we would guess Lalos because his big body allows his to possibly play as a 4-tech.

BGA is on record as not being a big fan of games against Pioneer Football League teams but given the new stadium Drake hopes to build in combination with Des Moines schools it would represent a huge improvement over the venues Dartmouth played in at Jacksonville and Marist. Here's a tour (it may take a couple of seconds to start):

EXTRA POINTCount me among those who were fans of Brown grad John Krasinski's Some Good News YouTube program. And count me among those feeling a little let down that he's sold the franchise.
Look, I totally get that Krasinski built something that would be hard for him to continue once he gets back to his regular day job on the silver screen, and that the sale to ViacomCBS will bring it to a larger audience. But the beauty of SGN when it started was that it was just a guy and a camera messing around like all those other YouTubers out there, crowd-sourcing a program without all the trappings of Hollywood and corporate America. Try as ViacomCBS no doubt will, some of the innocence of the original can't help but be lost and that's too bad.
