Jonathan Beane '92, listed as a 5-foot-9, 175-pound wide receiver when he was at Dartmouth, has been named the NFL's Senior Vice President and Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer. From an NFL release (LINK):
In this role, Jonathan will spearhead the league's overarching diversity, equity and inclusionstrategy, and will collaborate with senior leadership to drive actionable change throughout the league.

"Diversity and inclusion will strengthen our organization and aligns with our values," said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. "Jonathan joins the NFL at an important time, and we look forward to his broad expertise and leadership on diversity, equity, and inclusion policies and practices for the betterment of our league."
Beane came to Dartmouth from Chapel Hill, N.C., and graduated with a degree in American history. He went on to earn a law degree and MBA from the University at Buffalo and a Masters of Law degree in taxation from Georgetown.

The Philadelphia Inquirer has a story about former Dartmouth defensive back Matt Burke '98 that begins with a chance encounter year ago he had with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar after learning he was going to be working in the NFL. Burke, previously defensive coordinator for the Miami Dolphins, is now defensive line coach for the Philadelphia Eagles. (LINK)

Sad news out of Minnesota with the passing of Lance Brackee '93, a two-time member of the All-Ivy League first team, and as a 6-foot-6, 295-pound offensive tackle the 1991 winner of Dartmouth's Jake Crouthamel Award as the sophomore or junior who contributed most to the success of the team. He was presented with the Gordon P. Bennett Award as a senior for his "high degree of performance, sportsmanship and character." Find his obituary HERE.

Catching up on a few PATs from recent weeks . . .
The robot vacuum cleaner continues to amaze. Somehow, some way, even when I think there can't be even one iota of dust left on the floor when I empty it each morning I find more in the cannister. ... TigerBlog followed up on the post about the TV show Superman with a look at his favorite episode about the Mole Men HERE. ... Our sunflowers have continued to grow with several now up to three feet but they are running out of time to have actual flowers. ... Twice in the past week or so I've managed to get the living room ceiling fan going on the first try. The "stupid room" light switches continue to be a mystery. ... The grasshopper plague has slowed down but some of the little buggers are still showing up on screens and porch furniture ... I've been told by a local friend (and former Big Green football player) that while Warren Falls, Vt., is a bit of a drive, it's worth visiting as the graphic from the football page posted her suggested. .... I am missing Golic & Wingo although I did catch a little of Golic Jr. with Chiney Ogwumike (had to look up that spelling) yesterday afternoon. ... Still loving that corn on the cob. ... It was one month ago tomorrow the last time I was in Hanover. ... While we clearly saw the comet NEOWISE last month the Perseid meteor shower was a disappointment this time around. ...
