Get Ready!

The first Wednesday in February is the traditional National Signing Day for college football. Although the introduction of early signing in December has taken most of the drama out of what will happen in a couple of days the anticipation here is there will still be "Signing Day" ceremonies at schools and homes this week.

With help from incoming player families as well as a lot of time at the keyboard, BGA Daily has celebrated Signing Day for the past 15 or so years by posting pictures throughout the day. To share photos, CLICK HERE to address an email to BGA with the subject line, SigningDay. Thanks for your help!

BGA has identified 25 of the anticipated 30 recruits (LINK) and is watching the Twitter feeds of several more potential recruits who may announce in the next several days.

On the subject of recruits, Ezekiel Evans, brother of the late Dartmouth quarterback Ernest Evans '16, has Tweeted his commitment to Cornell. (LINK)

Zeke is a 6-foot-3, 260-pound defensive lineman who will graduate from The Kinkaid School in Houston this spring. Dartmouth was among the schools that recruited him.

Dartmouth coach Buddy Teevens gets a quick mention in a piece on Peter King’s Football Morning in America site that covers groundbreaking Wasington Football Team assistant Jennifer King. From the STORY (italics are mine):

(Longtime NFL executive Scott) Pioli connected King to progressive-thinking coach Buddy Teevens at Dartmouth.

Continuing in the "longest" series of school records, here are the Longest Dartmouth Field Goals in the Formal Ivy League Era:

EXTRA POINT
With the temperature in single digits yesterday and snow anticipated in the coming days I spent part of yesterday afternoon watching the Farmers Insurance Open golf tournament from Torrey Pines, just north of San Diego and daydreaming.

The televised views of the cliffs over the Pacific Ocean were a reminder of the handful of trips we made at this time of year to escape the brutal cold of Northern New England and fall asleep to the sounds of the surf breaking below our campsite at a state park just a few miles north of Torrey Pines. Fingers crossed that the pandemic breaks and perhaps we'll be back there to soak up some sun a year from now. . . .
