Look Around

Given that a great many of you have probably never been in Floren Varsity House – home of Dartmouth College football – today's BGA Daily digs into the photo archives for a look at the timeline along the wall in the Crouthamel Lounge (above). Individual panels shown below are aligned left to right:

Dartmouth's three 2021 nonconference opponents were all supposed to be in action this weekend but only two will be playing.

New Hampshire at Villanova today has been postponed. Last week the Wildcats had their game against Delaware called. The latest postponement means they will bring an 0-1 record into next week’s game at Rhode Island in what was supposed to be their fourth week of football (and the seventh week of the FCS spring season).

Valparaiso will face Butler today for the second time in three weeks. Valpo opened the abbreviated spring season with a 24-14 win at this same Butler team two weeks ago. The game is available on ESPN+.

Sacred Heart (2-1) is slated to play Wagner tomorrow. The game is available for free (?) on the NEC Front Row streaming package HERE at 1 p.m. if you need to feed your Football Jones.
EXTRA POINT
I clearly remember first hearing this song on public radio while sitting in the parking lot waiting to pick up That Certain Dartmouth '14 after her driver's ed class as a high school junior. Like today, the snow was melting, puddles were forming and the hint of spring was in the air. Although I have it on my iPod Touch and can listen to it any time, when I hear it randomly played on the radio – as I did yesterday – it always brings me back, and brings a smile. The Waters of March by Susannah McCorkle:

From The Waters of March written by Antônio Carlos Jobim:

A flower that blooms
A fox in the brush
A knot in the wood
The song of a thrush

The mystery of life
The steps in the hall
The sound of the wind
And the waterfall

It's the moon floating free
It's the curve of the slope
It's an ant, it's a bee
It's a reason for hope

And the riverbank sings
Of the waters of March
It's the promise of spring
It's the joy in your heart
