A fifth-year senior from DeKalb, Illinois, Kyler finished the season completing 169-of-239 passes for 1,972 yards and 17 touchdowns while getting picked off just once all year. He was one of the most efficient quarterbacks across the FCS during the 2021 season (and throughout his career), ranking second in the nation in completion percentage (.707, a Dartmouth record) and fourth in passing efficiency (162.66). And his touchdown-to-interception ratio (17.0) was the best of any FCS quarterback as well. Kyler also set Big Green and Ivy League career records for completion percentage (.693) and passing efficiency (164.55), the latter leading all active FCS signal callers.
For the record, Kyler had 17 touchdown passes to one interception this fall and 42 touchdowns to six interceptions in his career.
Brown quarterback EJ Perry is the other finalist for the offensive Bushnell Award. He was a finalist last year as well.
A graphic from the Dartmouth football office:
Forty-five years after he first stepped foot on campus, 30 seasons from when he took on a coaching role at his alma mater and nearly 23 years since he took the reins from his Hall of Fame mentor, University of New Hampshire head football coach Sean McDonnell announced Wednesday that it's time for the 'next man up' with his retirement, effective immediately.
McDonnell was selected the Eddie Robinson National Coach of the Year in 2005 and 2014. More from the release:
The Saratoga Springs, N.Y., native mentored 14 student-athletes to a combined 55 All-American awards, which included the nation's top offensive player (Ricky Santos, Walter Payton Award, 2006) best defensive player (Matt Evans, Buck Buchanan Award, 2011), and NCAA all-time record holder for touchdown receptions (David Ball, 58, 2003-06).

EXTRA POINT
Winter is a-comin'.
The VW bus went into hibernation in the garage over Thanksgiving weekend and yesterday I managed to get the gas grill, the Weber charcoal grill and the folded down picnic table tucked away in the sun room for the winter. Next on tap is to get firewood from the pile just off the deck stacked in the sun room. That's a little more labor intensive.
The old saying is firewood heats you three times: when you cut it, when you split it and when you burn it. I didn't cut or split this stuff but it's heated me a bunch already: when I moved it from where it was delivered on the driveway around the house, when I stacked it alongside the deck, when I moved it into the sun room late last fall and when I re-stacked what we didn't burn back outside at the end of last winter.
