In The News

Poking around the portal has brought up a story out of Syracuse that includes this (LINK):

Isaiah Johnson is a cornerback from Dartmouth worth keeping an eye on . …  Johnson, who stands 6-foot-3 and weighs 205 pounds, was recently offered by Syracuse.

But the story also includes this:

Syracuse will have two of the most talented starting corners in the entire ACC next year in (Garrett) Williams and Duce Chestnut.

Green Alert Take: Just a couple of guesses. I'd think Johnson wouldn't be happy about being shortchanged an inch. Nor would the crowded cornerback situation necessarily feel inviting.

Also from the story:

JD DiRenzo is a massive offensive lineman who recently announced his decision to transfer from Sacred Heart. A grad transfer, DiRenzo is listed at 6-foot-6 and 315 pounds. He was recently offered by Syracuse.

DiRenzo was on the field for Dartmouth's 41-3 win over his team last fall. For the record, he has quite an offer sheet, one that includes Virginia, Purdue, Minnesota, Maryland, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, West Virginia, Washington State, UConn and Rutgers.

Speaking of grad transfers, missed this from the Baylor football coach about a certain Dartmouth grad transfer in advance of his team's Sugar Bowl win:

WR Drew Estrada will be available. He's had a foot injury for awhile and played through it, including the past couple of games. He wears a boot during down time to help recuperate. He's good to go.

Did you know that the NFL's leading tackler this fall is an Ivy League product? True story. Here's the list of the top five tacklers as of this morning:

Oluokun, of course, is a 6-foot-2, 215-pound linebacker from Yale. Check out his Wikipedia bio HERE and this highlight:

EXTRA POINT
It has been said that the happiest day for a hot tub owner is the day the thing is set up and the next happiest day is the day it is carted off. Same for some RV owners (although most definitely not VW poptop owners).

I found myself thinking about that yesterday while we were taking down our Christmas tree. It's always great to see it go up and please don't think of me as a Grinch, but it's also a bit of a relief to see it come down, the ornaments get put away for another year and those pesky needles all cleaned up off the floor.
