What We Know (And Think We Know)

Two new transfer portal offers to report.

Offensive lineman John Paul Flores has Tweeted an offer from UMass and tight end JJ Jones reports that North Carolina Central of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) has offered.

Now for a deeper drive . . .

With the Transfer Portal database unavailable to the general public, I don't know exactly how many Dartmouth and Ivy League players have entered their names. Nor do I know all of the offers those in the Portal have received. Unless I hear from someone directly, all I can report is what they Tweet. That being the case, the lists posted below have been compiled off individual player Tweets. If a player has entered the Portal and not Tweeted it, I have no way of knowing he's looking around.

A few more things. While offers have been put out, they aren't all active. A school may be looking for a transfer to play a particular position and tender that slot to a handful of players. When that spot is filled, the offers to the others dry up.

Because of the NCAA's decision not to count 2020 as a year of spent eligibility, all of Dartmouth's 2021 season seniors and underclassmen are eligible to return for another year, depending on their academic status. But they cannot graduate and return. With the Ivy League's one-year grad school eligibility exemption having run out, Ivy seniors hoping to return next fall usually will have to take one quarter or semester off.

The only Dartmouth players not eligible to return next fall are the 12 grad students and fifth-years who used up their final season in 2021. In alphabetical order they are WR Masaki Aerts, DE Nate Boone, OL Donald Carty, LB Tanner Cross, OL Jake Guidone,  OL Evan Hecimovich, LB Thomas Hennessy, TE JJ Jones, QB Derek Kyler, S Niko Mermigas, CB DeWayne Terry and DL Seth Walter. Those in the Portal who have not committed elsewhere have generally noted they are open to returning to Dartmouth.

All that being said, here are the players who have Tweeted entry into the Portal and the offers they have reported. Players with an asterisk after their name were/are eligible to return depending on their academic status. Some are eligible to play one more year in the Ivy League and some can have still another year elsewhere (if they didn't surpass the four-game threshold in one of their Dartmouth seasons):

EXTRA POINT
Gotta get my daily hike in early today. The temperature as I write this is an almost balmy 29.9 degrees but it is supposed to drop all day on its way to double-digits below zero tomorrow morning. The forecast high Saturday at 2 p.m. is one degree.
