All Set

Former Dartmouth standout Drew Estrada has joined his old Big Green teammate Niko Lalos of the New York Giants in signing with the 3XL sports management agency. Estrada, who caught 30 passes for 367 yards and one touchdown last fall for No. 5 Baylor, signed with 3XL in January and is being represented by Nate Richman, a onetime Boston College offensive lineman. Richman also represents Lalos, former Harvard tight end Antony Firkser of the Tennessee Titans and a host of other NFL players.

Estrada's Pro Day will be at Baylor on March 30.

The intro goes on a little too long but this video reminds us that the one-day football camps at Dartmouth are hardly unique:

Given the strong feelings many around the Ivy League had over the years about whether the Ancient Eight should hold a postseason basketball tournament, the conference went to great lengths to make it clear when they introduced the four-team event what it was all about. From a March 10, 2016 release put out by the Ivy League. Italics are mine:

“The tournaments' winners will receive the League's automatic bids to the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Basketball Championships. The teams that finish with the best records from the 14-game, regular-season conference schedule will continue to be recognized as Ivy League champions.

That being the case, can someone please tell me how the Ivy League office put out this Tweet yesterday?

Green Alert Take: Repeat after me. Princeton did not win the Ivy League women's basketball championship yesterday in Boston. The Tigers clinched a share of the Ivy League title on Feb. 23 with a win over Columbia and claimed the outright title on March 4 with a win over Penn (LINK). For the Ivy League itself to get that wrong is completely unacceptable. Should Yale win the tournament final against Princeton today will the Ivy League Tweet that Yale won the Ivy League title?

EXTRA POINT
Hall of Fame catcher Carlton Fisk, who grew up down the Connecticut River from Hanover, might have played for the Sox (Red and White variety) but he was a New England yankee, through and through. There's a widely retold story about how he was unhappy when his paperboy left the morning paper at the end of his walkway instead of on his porch and how he got up early in the morning to lecture the poor kid on how important it is when you do a job to do it right.

I wasn't raised a New England yankee (although I rooted for those other Yankees growing up) but That Certain Nittany Lion '16 will gladly tell you I've got some Carlton Fisk in me. He's gotten a few lectures over the years about "doing the job right," particularly when it comes to shoveling snow. The porch and steps have to be neatly and entirely cleared, not just a path down the middle.

We got maybe six inches of snow last night and after walking Griff the Wonder Dog this morning I grabbed the snow shovel and got to work. But here's the deal. The sun is coming out today and there's a touch of spring in the air. The temperature could hit 60 degrees in a few days. Given all that, I shoveled just a narrow path to our garage, didn't clear the entire porch and hung up the shovel.

Please don't tell That Certain Nittany Lion '16, and by all means don't let Pudge Fisk know.
