In case you missed it, Yale won the Ivy League men's basketball tournament over Ivy League champion Princeton yesterday, 66-64, earning the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Bulldogs, who took two of three from the Tigers this winter, were rewarded with a 14 seed and will face Purdue, a 3-seed, Friday at 2 p.m. in Milwaukee.

Princeton, meanwhile, will head to Richmond, Va., to face VCU at 7 p.m. in the NIT. The Tigers are a 6-seed while the Rams are a 3.

On the women's side, a Top-25 ranking didn't mean much for the No. 24 Princeton women, who are seeded 11th and will play 6-seed Kentucky Saturday in Bloomington, Ind., in the NCAA's.

Columbia's women earned the Ivy League's automatic qualifier into the WNIT with the pairings to be released this afternoon.

The North Carolina women, coached by former Dartmouth standout and assistant coach Courtney Banghart – architect of the Princeton team that has come to dominate the Ivy League – is a 5-seed in the NCAA's and will play 12-seed Stephen F. Austin Saturday.

EXTRA POINT
Loved the extra hour of daylight last evening.

It wasn't a surprise, obviously, but it was disappointing to find it pitch black this morning when I walked Griff the Wonder Dog. But that's a tradeoff I'm more than willing to make knowing that sunrise will keep getting earlier and earlier in the coming days.

In case you are wondering, sunrise here on our Vermont hillside Saturday was at 5:36:53 and 6:33:17 this morning. It will take just about a month for Ol' Sol to catch up and rise over the horizon as early as it did Saturday. To be exact, on April 14 the sunrise will be 5:36:12.

Curious about just how early sunrise here will get? On June 15 and 16 it will be at 4:28:14.

Oh, and one more thing. This is the start of Daylight Saving Time, not Daylight Savings Time. (LINK)
