If you are a football fan the silly season is at long last winding down. But before we let it go, Dartmouth football's win over Princeton was voted the Ivy League's game of the year over the Big Green women's rugby win at Army in the NIRA championship.
Find a Dartmouth release about the game of the year voting HERE (but the best part is watching the highlights below).

On Friday, @DartmouthFTBL’s win over Princeton was named the 2021-22 Ivy League Game of the Year thanks to July-long fan voting on Twitter. Looking forward to the 2022-23 memories starting in just a few weeks! πΏpic.twitter.com/iSFlXAIf6I

Speaking of silly, CBS Sports has a column headlined, Picking the best college football team in each state entering the 2022 season. From the story (LINK):
New Hampshire -- Dartmouth: Coach Buddy Teevens has Dartmouth on a special run with consecutive Ivy League titles and a 56-14 record since 2014, and standout players include All-Americans Jake Guidone and Jalen Mackie. The success is more than enough to hold off New Hampshire.
Dartmouth has one opponent who earned the nod in its state:
Connecticut -- Sacred Heart: The Pioneers picked up the top spot by default (in 2020) after UConn, Central Connecticut and Yale all opted against playing football during the pandemic. In 2021, Sacred Heart earned the honor on the field. Mark Nofri's squad won its third Northeast Conference championship in the past four years and earned a trip to the FCS playoffs with an 8-4 record. Pioneers football is looking up.
Green Alert Take: If this doesn't define silly – "Hawaii: The Rainbow Warriors are the only Division I team in the state, so consider this a no-contest" – then this does: "Vermont – n/a"

Should have posted this yesterday afternoon. Find the Ivy League release announcing its preseason poll HERE.
Craig Haley, who heads up FCS football for Stats Perform, emphasizes just how close the Ivy League poll that came out yesterday is:

EXTRA POINT
Throughout July and August there are concerts on the green in the next town south of here. When it rains they move the performance indoors, which is fine if it's a folk singer or bluegrass.
Tonight's act is billed as performing "classic rock." Sorry, but the indoor venue is too small for that. If much-needed rain comes this evening as predicted we'll be sitting at home watching a Monk rerun instead of listening to a Stairway to Heaven cover rattling windows . . . and perhaps a few pensioners' teeth.
