The Cavaliers Now FanNation site has a story on Dartmouth grad transfer John Paul Flores. Click HERE to read the story and watch the video interview with JP:

Green Alert Take: What the story could have added is that, in addition to being tutored in Hanover by highly regarded Dartmouth line coach Keith Clark, John Paul is the third of four Flores brothers who played offensive line at the DI level, including one who spent time around the Green Bay Packers. That kind of background is one of the reasons why he's so knowledgeable across the entire O-line.

Former Dartmouth safety Tony Pastoors '10 is the Vice President of Football and Business Administration for the Los Angeles Rams, aka the team's "cap expert." He's the subject of a hometown story headlined One for the books: Totino-Grace grad Tony Pastoors living out dream as Los Angeles Rams VP.  Find the story HERE.

Pastoors explains his football journey this way:

“I think I realized during the college recruiting process that the odds of me getting to the NFL as a player were slim at best. It was around then I decided I wanted to find a way to continue a career in sports. I was fortunate enough to be able to attend Dartmouth College and play football. I also needed a work-study on-campus job during my time there; I was able to create a position within Dartmouth Athletics working in the football office. I was able to work alongside head coach Buddy Teevens and the coaching staff and loved it.”

The Athletic has a story headlined, College football Freaks List 2022: Bruce Feldman’s rankings, with Michigan’s Mazi Smith at No. 1 that includes not one, but two Ivy League players in its 100 capsules. (LINK)

Coming in at No. 15 in the nation is Princeton wide receiver Andrei Iosivas. From the story:

In track, he finished fourth in the country in the heptathlon and ran the fastest 60 in NCAA heptathlon history (6.71). Iosivas bench pressed 370 pounds this month and has vertical-jumped 39 inches. His 60-yard dash time would, by his own estimation, translate into a 4.2-something 40, but he points out that it was also out of the blocks and on a track, so maybe not.

Ranked No. 40 is Harvard defensive tackle Thor Griffith (a New Hampshire native). Says the story of the former wrestler and ice hockey player:

Griffith bench pressed 500 pounds, squatted 750 and power-cleaned 315. He also did 800 pounds on the trap bar. His agility numbers for his size and age are also excellent, clocking a 5.16 40, and a 4.64 shuttle.

EXTRA POINT
With football practice closing in, Mrs. BGA and I are headed over to Maine today to celebrate our anniversary (which was Monday) with a little beach time and dinner on the coast. We make it a point to have our anniversary dinner on or overlooking the water each year as an homage to our wedding reception, which was held on a boat on Boston Harbor.

A little fun quiz for you. When the boat set sail the band welcomes the guests with a song that made everyone smile and reminisce. Wanna guess what it was? CLICK HERE to find out but beware of stuck song syndrome. ;-)
