Kudos to the Daily Pennsylvanian for helping jumpstart the Ivy League media into football season with a story headlined, Ivy League Football Power Rankings: Preseason 2022; Which programs are in the best shape heading into the upcoming season? Here's the DP ranking from the story (LINK):
1. Harvard
2. Dartmouth
3. Princeton
4. Yale
5. Columbia
6. Penn
7. Brown
8. Cornell
Before you put too much weight on the rankings, this is from the story:
(Quarterback Nick) Howard, a Walter Payton Award preseason watch list nominee, has had the offseason to fully prepare for the QB1 role, and looks to take full command of the offense this year, and will certainly benefit from a veteran offensive line protecting him.
Green Alert Take: The Dartmouth QB1 may benefit from the offensive line protecting him, but it won't be a veteran line. Just one starter returns this fall.
More from the story:
The defense, however, which ranked top five in the FCS last year in scoring and yards allowed, returns only three starters. Despite this, the Big Green have had a 5-2 or better conference record in seven of the past eight years, and head coach Buddy Teevens, two wins away from 150, will likely know how to adjust to get the most out of his team once again.

BGA Premium looked at the Dartmouth tight ends last night. Tonight we skip ahead to special teams, saving the quarterbacks and offensive line for the final two installments of the series.

Curious about Dartmouth's streak of home-opening wins? It's at seven since the Big Green fell to Holy Cross in 2013 by a 31-28 score.

Speaking of home openers, former Dartmouth defensive lineman Nate Boone '22 had two tackles as a grad transfer in Case Western Reserve’s 54-14 loss to Johns Hopkins. Fellow grad transfer Micah Croom '20 had one tackle on a kickoff in the third quarter of USC’s 66-14 win over Rice.

Yesterday's BGA Daily posted a chart showing Dartmouth ranked 31st in the STATS poll. The FCS Coaches poll, which you can be sure relies heavily on the STATS poll, has Dartmouth 32nd. Coincidence? I don't think so ;-)

Stumbled across this from the NCAA that I missed over the winter. It's a list of the 7 of the most unbreakable records in FCS football history. Here are the records from the story (LINK):
• Eight consecutive games with at least 200 yards rushing in 1994 by Arnold Mickens of Butler.
• 85 passing attempts by Stephen F. Austin’a Jeremy Moses against Sam Houston State on Nov. 1, 2008.
• 29 consecutive passing completions to start a game by Princeton’s Quinn Epperly against Cornell on Nov. 2, 2013
• Portland State’s winning point total in a 105-0 victory over Delaware State on Nov. 8, 1980.
• 39 points in the fourth quarter for Montana in a 52-48 win over South Dakota State on Sept. 4, 1993.
• James Madison's one punt return allowed in 2012. (For the record, Harvard allowed just two in 2014.)
• Nicholls' 13-point overtime win against Texas State (49-36) on Oct. 26, 1996, a margin provided by a touchdown in the top of the fifth overtime and a pick six in the bottom. (The PAT was not kicked.)
(The story points out that mathematically a 14-point overtime win could occur. A team would have to score a touchdown in the top half of an overtime to go up six, successfully go for two for an eight-point margin, then return a pick six to move in front by 14. The PAT, of course, would not be kicked.)
And here's another record that will never be broken that the story includes as an afterthought:
• North Dakota State allowed zero punt return yards on three attempts in 2016.
