Tuesday Here And There

It's unclear how much you can learn about a team from anonymous posts and comments on message boards and blogs, but you can learn a lot about what fans are thinking regarding their team of choice. Comments came fast and furious on Jake Novak's Roar Lions blog before and after Columbia's loss to Penn last week and a few folks even offered thoughts on this week's matchup with Dartmouth. Check out the comments from those who follow the Lions HERE.

#

Dartmouth defensive lineman Shane Cokes and punter Davis Golick were named to the Ivy League honor roll for their play in Saturday's loss to New Hampshire.

Cokes had five tackle with 2.5 for a loss including one sack, and he was credited with a forced fumble. Golick averaged a career best 43.3 yards on six punts, dropping three inside the 20, with one at the five and another downed at the 1.

Keeping in mind that Sagarin had Dartmouth a nine-point favorite over New Hampshire last week, the computer rating has Columbia favored by one in this week's matchup with the Big Green in New York City.

Here are this week's Sagarin rankings, including the movement from last week:

152 - Princeton - down 5
162 - Harvard - up 2
163 - Penn - up 8
174 - Yale - down 2
188 - Dartmouth - down 20
197 - Columbia - down 12
210 - Brown - up 6
213 - Cornell - up 1

185 - New Hampshire - down 5
212 - Sacred Heart - no change
243 - Valparaiso - down 2

Massey Ratings has Dartmouth defeating Columbia, 20-17, with 60 percent confidence.

Last week Massey had Dartmouth defeating New Hampshire, 27-20, with 68 percent confidence.

After Saturday Massey has Dartmouth losing to Harvard and Princeton and then defeating Cornell and Brown to finish 6-4.

EXTRA POINT
The rain and the wind came before the reds popped so the best I can do is share this 25-second video I shot with an iPod on the five-minute drive to my hiking trail before the leaves fell. Enjoy a brief, peaceful look at backwoods Vermont in the fall:
