By The Numbers

The Wise Guys have spoken, installing Dartmouth as a 3-point favorite at home against Columbia. Elsewhere:

Brown is a 3½-point favorite at Cornell.
Harvard  is a 7½-point favorite at Princeton.
Yale is a 7-point favorite at home over Penn.

In games featuring Dartmouth's non-conference opponents, New Hampshire is a 20-point favorite at Stony Brook, Colgate is a 4½ -point underdog at Georgetown and Lehigh is a 3½ -point underdog at Bucknell.

The gauntlet has been tossed. This is from Columbia football:

The text above the headline reads:

Three Consecutive Weeks As The Nation's Best Red Zone Defense And Two Weeks As The Nation's Top Scoring Defense.

Dartmouth football has twice claimed the school's male Athlete of the Week award. Both times it has been wide receiver Paxton Scott. (LINK)

The FCS Football Xwitter site notes that there are just two undefeated FCS teams (Harvard at 5-0 and South Dakota State at 6-0). That's impressive but the site does point out that nine other teams have just one loss, in no small part because unlike Harvard and South Dakota State, they've played FBS teams.

The one-loss schools who were tripped up by FBS opponents: Delaware; Florida A&M, Furman,  Lafayette, North Carolina Central,  South Dakota; UIW, UT Martin and Western Carolina.

EXTRA POINT
It used to be when your car had a dead battery you popped the hood and looked around helplessly for someone with a set of jumper cables and a good heart.

I had a battery problem with my car the other day but not that kind. Nor the kind you EV doubters might expect.

No, it was the little CR2032 coin cell battery in my key fob that wasn't playing nice after the drop in temperature. Fortunately, I got the key working and the car started, but it was a close call because while I knew there was a way to extract the old-fashioned key from inside the fob, and that there was a way to use it to open the door, I hadn't bothered to investigate how to do either. Nor had it occurred to me that even if I got into the car, starting it could be problematic.

Thanks to YouTube I've now seen not only how to get the key out of the fob and me into the car, but also how I should be able to get it started if the fob is kaput.

Now if you'll excuse me, I've got to buy a couple of coin cell batteries so I don't have to wonder if that process actually works.
