Looking Good

As has usually (always?) been the case with alumni in town for Homecoming the traditional home football uniform will be on display for Saturday's game agains Columbia:

Nothing in The Dartmouth yet but the Columbia Spectator has a story headlined, Football seeks first conference win in upcoming game against Dartmouth (LINK).

Jake Novak down at the Roar Lions blog has posted his weekly power poll, based not on who is going to win the Ivy League but how teams are performing at this point of the season. Here's how he sees the league right now (LINK):

1 Harvard
2 Yale
3 Brown
4 Dartmouth
5 Penn
6 Princeton
7 Columbia
8 Cornell

Green Alert Take: My biggest quibble would be having a 4-1 Penn team whose only loss is in overtime that low. Granted, the Quakers didn't particularly distinguish themselves at Columbia last week, but as Al Davis famously said, "Just win, baby."

Speaking of the NFL, a story headlined NFL considering a ban to hip-drop style tackles had this video showing just what a "hip-drop style" tackle looks like in a college game. Expect the NCAA to follow suit if the NFL bans this kind of tackle.

EXTRA POINT
For the past year or so I've been recording interviews with an old iPhone (sans SIM card) passed down by That Certain Dartmouth '14 when she got a newer model. I had been more than satisfied using my old iPod Touch but planned obsolescence meant the operating system on the Touch could not be updated. That kept me from being able to download and use one particular app that would be very helpful.

Likewise, my old MacBook Air sitting on a shelf here in the BGA World Headquarters, can't run one incredibly helpful piece of software that the new one is able to run.

I could be wrong, but I think an enterprising and talented software developer who could adapt new apps and software so that they have as much of the same functionality as possible on older systems, would be sitting on a potential gold mine.
