Dartmouth Fans Will Like This

The Wise Guys have spoken and Dartmouth fans can only hope they are correct.

Per TWG, Dartmouth is a 2½ -point favorite at Brown and Harvard is a 1½ -point underdog at Yale. Should the favorites win the Big Green would earn a share of its 21st Ivy League championship. Harvard and Yale would also earn a share.

Elsewhere around the Ivy League:

Penn is a 3½ -point home favorite against Princeton.

Cornell is a 1½-point home favorite over Columbia.

In games featuring Dartmouth's non-conference opponents:

• New Hampshire is an 18½ -point home favorite against Maine.

• Lehigh is a 10½ -point. underdog at Lafayette .

• Colgate  is a 6½ -point underdog at home to Fordham .

Senior wide receiver Isaac Boston announced on Xwitter that he has entered the transfer portal as a mid-year transfer. (LINK) He is graduating two terms early and will have two years of eligibility after missing last season due to injury. He has 16 catches for 182 yards with one game remaining this fall. In his two years in a Dartmouth uniform he has 35 catches for 354 yards and one touchdown. His Xweet includes this highlight video:

A chip fixed on a gyroscope inside the ball sends data 500 times per second to record the point at which it is kicked. The “kick point” helps match officials make offside decisions using multiple camera angles to create 3D visualizations that illustrate player movement.

Green Alert Take: Meanwhile American football uses two poles with a 10-yard chain strung between them with the "yard to gain" determined by a fellow in a striped shirt eyeballing where he thinks the nose of the ball rests.

The Dartmouth women's basketball team defeated Division III Keene State last night, 65-41, for its first "win" under its new head coach. (LINK)

Green Alert Take: With apologies to the Dartmouth women's basketball program which has struggled mightily in recent years, I'm sorry but you should not be allowed to count as a win a game against a Division III team that is playing the contest as an exhibition. I know for some unknown reason the NCAA allows it, but when one team is using a game as a glorified practice (and can play the end of its bench for as long as it likes because the game doesn't count) it's not a real game. Period, end of sentence.

EXTRA POINT
Another sign that the seasons have changed: The bird feeder came back out yesterday. As recommended in these parts, the feeder spends spring and summer stored away in our garage so as to not serve as a bear feeder. Once the bears go into hibernation it's OK to bring the bird feeders back out. We may be a tad early this year but we haven't seen any bears so we'll cut the birds a break and get them going this week.
