A little surprising news out of the portal as senior offensive lineman Nicholas Schwitzgebel has been a late entry. Schwitzgebel was the only member of the Dartmouth offense to make the All-Ivy League first team last fall. He still has the option of returning to Hanover next fall as a COVID super senior.
In other portal news, defensive lineman Hank Knez has added MAC member Ball State to his growing list of offers and defensive back Cam Maddox has added Southern to a list that already included Buffalo and Delaware. Maddox can play another season in Hanover but Knez' Ivy League eligibility has run out.

A reminder that football's early signing period runs from tomorrow through Friday. While most of the headlines will go to players headed to the FBS ranks and the Ivy League doesn't recognize the letter of intent, there will be at least some school ceremonies featuring Ivy-bound players. Some others will celebrate in the traditional February signing day.
Don't be surprised if another name or two is added to the Dartmouth class tomorrow.
Feel free to forward any photos from either Signing Day and I'll post 'em here.

EXTRA POINT
While we had no flooding concerns here on our Vermont hillside yesterday, wind was another matter. It was whipping so hard it snapped the metal on a flag holder screwed into our garage. The flag pole blew across the yard and it took some serious searching to find the flag, which was caught up in a row of evergreens. Out in our field the 7-foot Christmas star did a face plant and will have to be set back in place.
