Dartmouth football coach Sammy McCorkle was a guest last week on The Greg Hill Show when the Boston-based show heard across the WEEI Radio Network visited Lebanon. To hear the full 10-minute interview with McCorkle, click HERE and scrub forward to the two-hour, two-minute mark.
While there's the usual amount of silliness on a show that features a "cast," it was interesting to hear McCorkle's answer to the question, "Is the portal a good or a bad thing" for Dartmouth?"
McCorkle: "We use it recruiting. We tell a guy, Hey come here, play at Dartmouth. We'll help develop you. Get a Dartmouth degree. And then if you have that fifth year, that opportunity, you can go play in a power five place and we'll help you get there. A lot of our guys are doing that now."
McCorkle also was asked about NIL and had this to say:
"It really hasn't seeped into the Ivy League, but it's right there. We tell guys, Your NIL is you get that Ivy League degree. You come out of Dartmouth and you get that six-figure job. That's our NIL right now. But there are individuals who have their own little marketplace stuff going on. I think a benefit of being the Ivy League is we're not dealing with that stuff right now – the transfer portal and NIL. It’s pure still, and hopefully it'll stay that way."

EXTRA POINT
The property line behind our house has a continuous row of lilacs stretching the better part of 50 yards. There's another group of the fragrant bushes alongside part of the driveway and several more alongside the garage. The dark purple, light purple and white flowers are in full bloom right now and when a breeze picks up and the scent of late spring floats in through open windows it always brings a smile.
