Solid Opening Win Over Fordham (In Short)

HANOVER (Sept. 21 BGA) – Dartmouth opened the season Saturday with a 45-13 thrashing of Fordham in a game that was nowhere near that close.

Quarterback Jackson Proctor completed 14-of-18 throws for 185 yards with two touchdowns, receiver Paxton Scott caught six balls for 121 yards, tailback Q Jones carried 16 times for 86 yards and a touchdown and Jordan Washington brought back a blocked field goal for a score as the Big Green ran out to a 31-0 lead early in the third quarter and cruised home.

Fordham, one of the preseason favorites in the Patriot League, was severely undermanned playing without starting quarterback CJ Montes, 1,000-yard rusher Julius Loughridge, leading receiver Garrett Cody and preseason All-America linebacker James Conway while falling to 0-4.

Dartmouth, which won its opener for the 13th time in 14 years, plays at Merrimack on Saturday. The Warriors fell to 1-3 Saturday with a 26-15 loss to Maine.
