Game Day At Buddy Teevens Stadium at Memorial Field

A game preview and a sidebar look at an overtime phenomenon in the Dartmouth-Penn football series went up on BGA Overtime last night. Check the stories out HERE.

After a little shower before sunrise it's a glorious morning here at our Vermont hillside home, about a half hour north of Hanover. The forecast for gametime in Hanover is 67 degrees with complete sun and no chance of rain per Weather.com.

There has been TV coverage galore about the dedication of Buddy Teevens Stadium at Memorial Field but only WMUR out of Manchester, N.H., has video from the Friday night's dedication ceremony outside the facility:

This is from the NBC affiliate in Burlington, Vt.:

The CBS affiliate in Burlington had a report HERE.

And there was this from Dartmouth's social media:

At last night's moving ceremony I had a chance to briefly visit with a number of former Dartmouth players, others associated with the program and former coaches from other sports I hadn't seen in too long. I also had the opportunity share a hug with Kirsten Teevens, which meant the world to me.

As we were leaving I spotted a familiar face in the crowd and called out, "Coach Murphy!" I reminded Harvard's longtime head coach and lifelong friend of Buddy Teevens about the private moment we shared after the press conference following last year's Dartmouth-Harvard game in Cambridge. He smiled and corrected me.

"You mean the Harvard-Dartmouth game," he said. I had to laugh.

Harvard 28, New Hampshire 23
Speaking of Harvard, the Crimson played a non-Ivy League Friday night game against an opponent it doesn't usually play and bounced back from last week's disappointment with a win over No. 16/21 UNH before 8,676 at Harvard Stadium. Although just 70 miles apart, the two schools were meeting on the football field for the first time since 1939.

Jaden Craig completed just 10-of-23 passes for the Crimson (albeit for 204 yards) and while star tailback Shane McLaughlin did not play, Harvard still outgained the Wildcats on the ground, 144 yards to 46 yards.

Harvard is now 2-1 overall (0-1 Ivy League) while UNH, which had won its last three, falls to 3-2.

Remember that bit on yesterday's BGA about players shutting it down after four games to preserve their redshirt season? On3 has a story with this lede:

There are a number of issues that still need to be ironed out in the current era of college football with NIL and the transfer portal. SEC commissioner Greg Sankey tackled one of them in an appearance on The Triple Option podcast, addressing the four-game redshirt rule.

EXTRA POINT
The large field across the road from us was purchased last year by a family that owns a garden center/landscaping business in Connecticut. I guess it shouldn't be a surprise that in the past few weeks they've made the drive north several times to plant what is easily several hundred future Christmas trees.

I haven't run into the owners in a bit so I don't know if folks will be driving up our road in a few years to pick out their December trophy and admire the views or if the idea is to cut them down, load them on a truck and sell them in Connecticut. Either way, the Christmas spirit will be alive and well on our beautiful hillside for years to come.
