A Two-Fer

Two more players have added their names to the Dartmouth football commitment list, running the number of players who have announced for the Big Green to 23.

The latest additions are Texas wide receiver Aiden Abercrombie, and Georgia defensive back Johnny Stephens.

Abercrombie is 6-foot-1 and 173 pounds, and starred last fall at Fort Worth Christian. A triplet joined on the roster by brothers Bryce and Colin, he was chosen first-team all-district after catching 36 passes for 802 yards with 10 touchdowns. He averaged 22.3 yards per catch, and chose Dartmouth over an offer from Valparaiso.

The 6-1, 175-pound Stephens played at Pisgah Christian School in John Creek, Ga., before prepping last year at Berkshire School in Sheffield, Mass. He chose Dartmouth over offers from Rhode Island, Lafayette, Marist and Stonehill, as well as a preferred walk-on spot at Fordham.

Stephens was a first team All-NEPSAC and All-Evergreen selection after leading the league with four  interceptions. He returned two for touchdowns. His resume also includes 10 pass breakups.

Tomorrow is the traditional National Signing Day, once one of the biggest events in college football. With the introduction of a December signing period in 2017 and now the abandonment of the National Letter of Intent, the first Wednesday in February is little more than, well, the first Wednesday in February. All that said, if there are "Signing Day" activities tomorrow and photos/links come this way, I'll post 'em  here. Just use the link on the right side of the page.

Green Alert Take: When BGA started in 2005 I'd spend all day at the keyboard posting photos that came flooding in. Last year? I think I received one. This year I'd be surprised if I hear from anyone. :-(

EXTRA POINT

I visited ChatGPT trying to find out what the acronym P.R.O.P. stood for in the note about Flo Orimolade, and after a few back-and-forth interactions, I signed off by saying, "Thanks, Holmes." (Holmes is something we'd sometimes call each other as kids, although I have no idea why.)

ChatGPT responded, "Anytime, Watson! 🕵️‍♂️ Keep those mysteries coming!"

That made me laugh, so I answered, "Ha-ha."

ChatGPT responded by saying, "Case closed… until the next stat mystery!"

Green Alert Take: It's getting a little scary . . .
