The Los Angeles Times continues a series of profiles on top LA area players by position with a look at Santa Margarita tight end Luke Gazzaniga. If the name sounds familiar, it should.
Luke's dad, David '89, was an offensive lineman and co-captain of Buddy Teevens' second Dartmouth team. Today he's an orthopedic surgeon.
Luke's grandfather, Alan '58, was a two-year letterman under coach Bob Blackman.

Sad news out of Pennsylvania's Lehigh Valley with the passing of Lauren Loose, namesake of Lauren’s First and Goal Foundation, which raised more than $3 million to fund pediatric cancer research and support patient families since its founding in 2004. Lauren, who was born with Neurofibromatosis type I, was 29.
Founded by Marianne and John Loose in 2004 while Loose was defensive coordinator at Lafayette, the foundation's First and Goal football clinics attracted a laundry list of coaches from around the country each year. Among current and former Dartmouth coaches who contributed their time over the years were Keith Clark, Don Dobes, Roger Hughes, Adam Hollis, David Shula, Mike Bruno, Chris Rorke, Kiely Nagle and Pat O'Leary, while kicker Matt Kelly '11, helped out at a satellite camp.
John Loose, who coached at Lafayette from 2000-2013, is today assistant head coach and linebackers coach at Army West Point.

EXTRA POINTOur robotic vac goes to work each day at 4 a.m. With That Certain Dartmouth '14 and That Fellow Who Roots For A Baseball Team That Shall Not Be Named here for a long weekend I thought that I'd turn the thing off so they could sleep in. Our last vac had a simple on-off switch, but apparently this less-sophisticated model does not, so I spent a little quality time with the manual yesterday trying to figure out how to put the program on hold. Ugh.
Then I went to ChatGPT.
Then I went back to the manual where I eventually learned that resetting the time the vac is supposed to start to 0:00 would cancel its noisy daily mission.
The result?
At 4:30 this morning That Certain Dartmouth '14 was downstairs turning the thing on its back like a turtle to stop it from clunk-clunk-clunking for the next hour of so. It turns out the 0:00 approach failed miserably.
It won't happen again. I'm not sure the vac has much of a charge left, but I'm not taking any chances this time. TCD'14 had the right idea. Tonight that thing with a mind of its own is sleeping on its backside.
