Surprisingly, The Dartmouth did not have a writer in the press box for the first home football game of the season and there's no game story on the paper's site yet. But The D does have a piece about quarterback Grayson Saunier's second year at the Manning Passing Academy. It turns out he roomed with another Louisianan who left to play his college football elsewhere. Fellow you may have heard of name of Arch Manning. Find the story HERE.

EXTRA POINT
I was just finishing today's post when the doorbell rang. It was one of the fellows who had done repair work on our house that, among other things, required replacing a bunch of stained cedar shakes.

We had asked when they finished if they would leave us one of the old shakes so we could match the stain color. Unfortunately they had forgotten that request and all the shakes they removed were already buried in the landfill.

That being the case, Mrs. BGA went to the paint story and brought home "fan decks" to hold up against the house. Because none were a perfect match we sent an SOS to the contractor for help.

When the fellow showed up just now I thought he'd have found one at the landfill but no, they had another solution. He simply removed one of the shakes we had not replaced that had the original color on it, replacing it with one that was unstained.

Now we take that one to the paint store, have the original color matched and when we stain the new shakes we also stain the one they just pulled to get the match. I never thought of that. Another reason why they get paid the big bucks and I'm a writer. ;-)
