Tuesday News Day

Scrimmage No. 2 is in the books for the Big Green and a recap went up last night on BGA Overtime. There's no practice today so the team and OT will be back at it tomorrow.

It's official . . . for now. With help from the courts, former Dartmouth safety Sean Williams is on the official Arkansas website as a member of the team despite trying out with the Tennessee Titans last spring. Find the Arkansas bio detailing his career in Hanover HERE.

I knew immediately what this was, but I was not aware of the term "content farm" until doing a little digging on the video below. It was posted by something called Trending News 24 usa.

The description I read of "content farms" explains that in search of "clicks," these sites scrape the internet for content, use AI to use what they find online to develop a script and have a computer generated-voice do the narration, in this case with someone purporting to be reading the script (but who clearly is not).

Green Alert Take: Uh, no . . .

As of this writing, the FCS Coaches Poll has not been released. The STATS poll has Week One Dartmouth opponent Lehigh  (2-0), moving up this week from 10 to 9, Yale dropping from 16 to 19, Harvard moving into the rankings at 25, and Monmouth (1-1) going from receiving 16 votes to receiving four.

Here's a first look at where the Sagarin Ratings algorithm has Ivy League teams and Dartmouth's opponents:
140 Yale
141 Harvard
173 Dartmouth
191 Penn
197 Princeton
218 Columbia
219 Brown
223 Cornell

132 Lehigh
185 Monmouth
244 Merrimack

Notre Dame comes in at No. 1 with Stetson last in the country at 266.

For what it's worth, if Dartmouth and Lehigh were playing this Saturday in Bethlehem, Sagarin would have the Mountain Hawks as nine-point favorites.

And finally, the lone former Dartmouth standout collecting a check for what he's doing on the field these days (depending on NIL of course ;-) is Flo Orimolade of the Calgary Stampeders. He was made available to the media after his team fell last night to the Edmonton Elks, 38-28. See what he had to say HERE.

EXTRA POINT
The inexpensive but very capable replacement robot vacuum we were sent when the refurbished one we bought went kaput isn't playing nice anymore. Unfortunately, the sketchy manual translated from Chinese isn't much help. Today's assignment is to figure out how to take the thing apart enough to get at the battery, pull it out and see if that will reset the vac to the factory settings. Here's the crazy part – the thing was working perfectly until I followed the instructions to turn it off for the first time. It's been acting up ever since I turned it back on.
