But Garton announced himself as the next great quarterback in the Quakers' storied football history, rushing, passing and leading Penn to a 14-9 victory before 8,966 fans at Princeton Stadium.The Dartmouth website has quick profiles on three senior players:
Penn coach Al Bagnoli has won 199 games and six Ivy League championships in his 17 years as the Quakers' helm, but he had never seen a win quite like this.
"This is unbelievable," said Bagnoli. "He plays 20 plays last week and it's like we're confident with him at quarterback. Keiffer just has a way of carrying himself and it rubs off on everyone else."
Garton looked more like an Armanti Edwards, or a Rodney Landers, as he rushed for 89 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries and cooly completed 16-of-21 passes for one TD and just one interception, than an inexperienced player.
