In The News

Mlive writes about the one that got away, Abraham Jaafar, a 5-foot-8, 180-pound running back from Fordson High School in Dearborn, Mich., who was ticketed for Dartmouth until Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh called and offered him a preferred walk-on sport. (LINK)

What did Dartmouth miss out on? From the story:
A sprinter in the 100 meter and 200 meter dashes in track, Jaafar is hoping his speed will get him noticed.
“I’ve never been caught from behind,” he said.
In fact, Jaafar displayed his speed against many opponents on the football field this last fall, including the likes of Detroit Cass Tech and Belleville, two teams littered with NCAA Division I prospects. Jaafar accumulated 1,275 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns on just 120 carries in the fall while also adding 30 receptions for 650 yards and 7 touchdowns. Throw in his special teams contributions in the return game, he had over 2,500 total yards.
And in case you were wondering, it was 6-below zero here this morning. March has come in like a lion, all right.
