Overlooked

Sorry, but HERO Sports got this one wrong.

Talking here about the outlet's list of the top-30 returning safeties in the FCS. (LINK)

I wasn't at all surprised to see Dartmouth junior Sean Williams not among the 25 players who were listed just by name. That's because I fully expected scrolling down to find him among the final five who get a little writeup. But no, the All-New England safety wasn't there either.

That's the problem when rankings are based on statistics.

Don't get the wrong idea. His numbers were just fine, thank you very much. Williams was third on the Big Green in tackles last fall (59) to go with four interceptions, five pass breakup, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery. And given that the stats included for one of the final five include punt returns, it should be noted that Williams was fourth on the Dartmouth roster with 554 yards of all-purpose yards, with 342 on kickoff returns, 175 on punt returns and 37 yards on interception return yardage (with one for a touchdow)n.

Find Williams' Dartmouth bio HERE.

Green Alert Take: I can understand why Williams wasn't among the final five. But if the writer had actually seen him play, he would absolutely have been among the top-30.

All that said, the Dartmouth offense will be across the field from three safeties who did make the cut. They were:

30. Kimal Clark, Central Connecticut
14. Ty Bartrum, Harvard
12. Shiloh Means, Penn

Dartmouth got a little more love in a list of top returning cornerbacks. Jordan Washington came in at No. 10.

Here's HERO's list of corners who the Big Green will see this fall (LINK):

27. Gavin Shipman, Harvard
16. Sean Guyton, Yale
2. Isaiah Reed, Brown

EXTRA POINT
Following up on yesterday's PAT, I did pull out the walk-behind mower and clean up about an acre of lawn yesterday. I've got another acre of lawn to go today. There's also another four acres or so of field, but that's going to have to wait until the tractor gets back from the shop because it's both too long for the mower and too much for me. ;-)
