A 'Local' Commits

Add to the list of Dartmouth commits a rising senior from, get this, New Hampshire!

Paul Binder is a 6-foot-6, 280-pound offensive tackle (and defensive end in high school) from Londonderry, N.H., who chose Dartmouth over offers from New Hampshire, Fordham, Stony Brook, Maine, Bryant, Sacred Heart and Georgetown:

(For the record, "local" is a relative term. Londonderry is 87 miles from Hanover. ;-)

Highlight videos of linemen shot from the next zip code can be a little hard to watch but for grins, check the big fella out rumbling for a touchdown at the 38-second mark of his junior highlights:

Alert eyes reminded me that when I posted the note earlier this week about Nick Howard appearing on the Butler roster as a grad transfer I missed another former Big Green player who will suit up for the Bulldogs this fall: defensive back Onye Onuoha.

A 6-foot, 190-pound defensive back, Onuoha could have had another season in Hanover but chose instead to graduate and begin his MBA. Find his Butler bio HERE and his Dartmouth bio HERE.

EXTRA POINT
There are a handful of clues in this photo taken yesterday that we had crossed the border.

The chargers for our little EV are part of the "Circuit électrique network and as the sign says there's no parking in those spots excepté en recharge. That's an Esso station across the street, not Exxon. And while the States have some Tim Hortons – the home of the eponymous Timbits – they are ubiquitous in the True North. (For the record, when we were crossing the border back home the guard asked us if we bought anything that we were bringing back with us. I told him we bought a 20-count box of Timbits but there were only a handful in the box. ;-)

Thanks to those who shared anniversary wishes. We had a fabulous day, swimming in Lac Memphrémagog and then enjoying a fabuleux meal overlooking the water at Saint-Denis-de-Brompton a little farther north in the Eastern Townships.
