Catch This

This video of first-year Dartmouth wide receivers coach Dan Hebert "mic'd up" is kind of fun:

Dartmouth nonconference opponent scores to date:

Fordham (0-2)
at Bowling Green 41, Fordham 17
at Central Connecticut 33, Fordham 3
This week: Stony Brook at Fordham

Merrimack (0-2)
at Air Force 31, Merrimack  6
at Connecticut 63, Merrimack  17
This week: at Bucknell

Central Connecticut (1-1)
at Central Michigan 66, Central Connecticut  10
at Central Connecticut 33, Fordham 3
This week: at St. Francis

Green Alert Take: That's a combined 1-5 record, but that deserves an asterisk because four of the losses were to FBS schools. On the other hand, the only win was between two of the teams . . . and someone had to win that game. ;-)

EXTRA POINT
For Christmas we received a bird feeder with a camera that sends video of visitors who stop by to grab something to eat to a phone or computer using wifi. I say "visitors," and not birds because sometime this summer a red squirrel discovered the free eats here at our Vermont hillside home.

Mrs. BGA's father once had problems with squirrels and he solved it by hanging the feeder on a wire strung between trees and stringing the wire horizontally through two-liter soda bottles that effectively spun the squirrels to the ground before they could get to the goal line.

That approach won't work with the video bird feeder because for the picture to be watchable, the thing has to be mounted and perfectly steady.

There is a siren on the feeder you can sound when you spot a squirrel and that was a lot of fun the first half dozen times or so we used it. Red squirrels can really fly! Ah, but they also learn fast, and now they just ignore the siren. I swear I've seen a smirk on the squirrel's face when the siren starts.

Frustrated I went to the bird feeder website, which offered this oh-so-clever suggestion:

When you see a squirrel approaching, use the app to say commands like "Go away!" This vocal intervention can effectively prevent squirrels from accessing bird feed.

As the Beav might say, "Gee Wally, do you think saying 'Please' would help?"
