A familiar name is joining the Dartmouth football program from St. Thomas Academy in Mendota Heights, Minn. A familiar last name that is.
Wyatt Schmidt, younger brother of four-year Big Green standout Foley Schmidt '12, figures to make kicker one of the most competitive and deep positions on the Dartmouth roster next year.
Wyatt was feted in Los Angeles as the 2012 Herbalife 24 Chris Sailer Award winner as the national high school kicker of the year. Find a story and photos from the celebration here. From that story:

STA kicker Wyatt Schmidt tied the state record for field goals in a game Friday with kicks of 40, 37, 25 and 28Schmidt was first-team all-state as a senior and the KARE TV 2012 Kicker of the Year.
Also a talented ice hockey player, Schmidt graduated from high school last spring and took a gap year to consider his options in either or both sports before ultimately choosing Dartmouth and the gridiron.
