A New Name

Add another name to the list of players tweeting their commitment to Dartmouth.

The latest to join the growing list is Joe Heffernan, a 6-foot-2, 200-pound safety from Milwaukee's Marquette University High School. Find his tweet announcing his decision HERE.

Heffernan's account lists offers from Yale, Cornell, Columbia, Air Force, Western Michigan, North Dakota, Northern Illinois and Illinois State.

He had 130 tackles a year ago. Here's his highlight video:

The Manchester Union Leader has a column spun out of Saturday's loss to Columbia that includes this:
It wasn’t a good look for officials, specifically the game’s umpire, who treated the football like a greased pig and took what seemed like forever to place it down in time for the Big Green to run at least one more play. When the clock showed :00, Dartmouth was out of luck at the Lions 17-yard line.
Dartmouth’s first loss of the season came with hard feelings all over Memorial Field. Fans shrieked that they wuz robbed and Big Green players were boiling mad they didn’t get another shot at yet another last-second victory.

With senior kicker David Smith of Quebec and senior tailback Ryder Stone of Alberta on the Dartmouth roster it's not hard to understand why the Toronto Argonauts were in town yesterday.

Stone, who found his way from a ranch in western Canada to the Ivy League has an interesting story. To read a piece I freelanced about him for the DP2 magazine PEAK, check out the latest issue HERE.

I also wrote shorter stories on sibling athletes at Dartmouth including Stone and sister Rylee (LINK), and cornerback Danny McManus and sprinter sister Colleen (LINK).
